Isita's Senior Project

Through The Ancient Looking Glass
By Isita Talukdar BISV '22
Thousands of years of history have brought you to this very moment of reading this very paragraph. People, wars, books, innovations. All of these have intertwined with each other to link you back to the past and forward to the future. Allow my project to offer you a unique view into this history, connecting the ancient times with the present day. Throughout this website, I will showcase my work and share with you all I have learned.

Myself and My Mentors

Isita Talukdar
Salve! I am a senior at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley and this is my Senior Project. I am an an aspiring software engineer and avid Latin and Classics enthusiast. Taking all the insights I have gleaned from my CS projects and Latin classes, I have created this work and I hope you enjoy it!

Mr. Christian Brady
I've been teaching for seven years, Latin and English. Went to school at the University of British Columbia for Ancient Culture, Religion, and Ethnicity masters degree, and Middlebury College BA in Classics.I translate Latin poetry and write about pop culture and I'm an absolute die hard fan of ArtBreeder ever since my favorite student Isita started playing with it.

Dr. Rebecca Futo-Kennedy
My mentor is Dr. Rebecca Futo-Kennedy, the Associate Professor of Classics, Women's and Gender Studies, and Environmental Studies at Denison University. She mentored me in accessing a corpus of sculpture images and finding primary source descriptions of female Greco-Roman figures. By working with her, I immersed myself in ancient historical imagery and gender representation.

Rani the Cat
This is Rani, the neighborhood stray that I pet every day twice without fail. She's always helped me unwind after senior project work and been happy to give me many nuzzles and kitty kisses.
